YOLO
a little story about boats
we stopped in RVA with the intention to visit and MOVE to Hawai’i …
we ended up on YOLO & soon Liveable Project
Okay, I am getting ahead of the story.
Our intention was not to move anywhere as we had been living down by the river, in a van for many a year. We (me & Eddie, my #husbandito) were thinking we could go live on the islands for a bit and get in the ocean frequently, I dreamt of being a snorkeling guide. (*still do)
RVA aka: Richmond Virginia / Powhatan land & where my mom is. Sh*t happens, mom got hurt and we stayed to help.
Where to live? Enter a photo shown to me by a climbing friend & parent of a kid I was coaching, of a sunset from the previous evening. It was EPIC beautiful & looked like my life on the road. He told me he lived down On the river, on a boat. I immediately asked if we could possibly rent a slip & live out of the van. He asked, “would you live on a boat?”
ahh, Yup, if we had one.
Enter YOLO. you only live once. (We did not name the boat.)
YOLO is our current boat we live in and rent. Just happened to be available that week of the sunset conversation in November 2019. We moved onto this little 26foot boat at the beginning of our first east coast winter, having never lived on a boat prior……
Been on YOLO, two winters now.
This spring Eddie declared that our last winter on YOLO as Eddie can not stand up everywhere and needs a bit more space. Our sleeping berth is tiny, you might call it super cozy.
Agreed we like living on a boat.

2021 June 21 Summer Solstice
Three weeks ago, we were sent a houseboat to check out on social media. It was a Friday.
We looked at it on Saturday evening.
We bought it on Sunday.
I currently am calling it Liveable Project.
It is 42” feet, built-in 1969. Happens to be on another river, that connects to this river.
Tomorrow it is being towed to where it will be our Liveable Project.
HOME Ownership begins with a fixer upper and a long boat ride up ⬆️ stream. about 60ish miles.
updates next time…..
